Release Control
Season 1. Episode 6.
True surrender is hard, but it brings so much freedom. In life, there is always something to worry about and there is always an area of our lives that we want to control. I want to challenge you to do the work you need to do now so that you can release control. Here are some truths that I want to share with you:
You can’t control this.
These are two examples of holding onto control in this process:
Paralyzed: paralyzed by fear to take the necessary steps and face the potential road ahead
Over control: meticulously controlling every detail in order to attempt to control the outcome
Surrender brings freedom. As you let go of control, I want to remind you of these things:
Surrender is a daily exercise.
It’s one of the hardest things to do.
Learning to wait well is a journey (balancing waiting on God and being proactive).
True surrender is when we get to the place that we know we will be ok no matter what happens.
You can move forward in faith while being confident that God is in control of the outcome.
It’s important to prepare your heart for all outcomes, including the ones you may not want.
Remember: God is in control. He is sovereign in ALL things, big and small. He knows your heart and what you desire most.
Encouragement from Chapter 9 called The Grace of Hope:
“Hope is a choice. It is both a noun and a verb. It’s something you can have, but also something you can do. To me the more important of the two is always in the doing. If we have hope, but aren’t actively hoping, then we are missing a crucial component. The hoping is God’s grace in action in our life. It’s that confident trust we place in Him to bless us regardless of the circumstances, the difficulties, or the down right impossibilities.” - Give Grace book
